The Gift I Would Give Every Woman If I Could
And it's not the ability to easily extract yourself from a sports bra because we all know that's a myth.
If I could give every woman in the world one gift right now it would be this:
More confidence.
More confidence that:
what they know inside is right
what they know to be wrong is really fucking wrong
their voice should be heard
I would give every woman the utter unshakeable unrelenting knowing in every bone of their body that they have the right to speak up and speak out.
More than a right.
An obligation.
An obligation because they’re a thinking, breathing person on this planet and they are worthy of respect simply because they live.
Not because they earn or do or sacrifice. Just because they breathe here, now, in this time.
I would give every woman the confidence of older white men blathering in coffee shops. (Yes, I’m sitting in one right now and of course there is a prime specimen opining like he is the Oracle of Seattle and pounding the table. Oh my.)
I would give every woman the utter surety that their voice has value. That they have worth. And that they belong.
Because can you imagine what this world would be like if women had the space and the place to be our badass selves? Every single one of us?
Can you imagine what America would be like if 6 of the 9 justices on the Supreme Court were women? If 80% of elected representatives were women? If our problems were heard and acted upon and solved?
And what would life really feel like if we could all just talk and be heard?
Let’s build that world. It’s not too late.
P.S. To every good guy reading this and saying “Fuck yeah!”, I love you. Always will. I may no longer sleep with men but there’s so much I love about men. I simply want us all to be happier and better people.

Nope, It's Not Okay
We’re never going to get anywhere if we keep saying, “It’s okay” when we’re interrupted.
