I’m not a horror film gal.
I’m the person who closes her eyes and blocks her ears during PREVIEWS of horror films at the movie theater. I can’t let that stuff enter my brain or my sleeping hours will get even weirder than they are right now. (And that’s pretty odd already: think lucid dreaming and hypnagogic hallucinations.)
But something about the M3GAN trailer was different — was this a movie trying to be bad? Plus, a doll that menaces AND dances and sings? This had to be a comedy. (And you know I have a thing for creepy dolls and bizarre humor.)
So I bought tickets and prodded my doubting (adult) children to a Sunday matinee (where I snuck in a homemade breakfast taco and my daughter snuck in a Buffalo chicken sandwich because we are those people).
