The hypocrisy is stunning...people demanded their personal "my body my choice" freedom to infect and possibly kill many of the already-born but pretend to care about the life of an unborn, while denying programs lending financial, emotional and legal support to the mother and baby after it leaves the womb. And don't get me started about the lack of support should the child have life-long special needs. Plus, the threat by Clarence Thomas to revisit other private/personal freedoms but he somehow omitted Loving v Virginia, which falls under the same umbrella of legal argument. He is not only a hypocrite, he is vicious. Perhaps when contraception is challenged and condoms become the only method we will hear more from the males. Until then, it is an assault on women and I cannot believe I have to fight this fight all over again, but this time I am older, wiser and give fewer fucks what people think about me.

And that is the strength of women over 40: older, wiser, and less afraid. We can change things but we have to get moving.

I was at a concert in an old theatre in Seattle last night and Lucy Wainright Roche closed her set with a beautiful, acoustic version of the Tom Petty classic "I Won't Back Down" and the whole audience sang along. It left me in tears. It was sad, defiant, and resolved. We won't back down and we will not be controlled.

Agree. Keeping antennae out for opportunities to help more. Pretty sure the Republican Party in this extremely red state is sad I signed up because now I am on their mailing lists and they hear from me a lot. It's the only way I can have a voice here, and I am not the only one who got on the rolls for this very reason. The concert ending...wow.

Thank you. I've been in a slow boiling rage for days now...I fear for so many people right now and I can't help but feel somewhat helpless (even with signing petitions, and donations, and talking and talking and talking...)

It's such a hard time right now. I'm right there with you. And I keep reminding myself that we must each do what we can. I write. Others lead. Some run for office. And the list goes on. We must each use our rage in a way that makes sense for who we are and how we can help. But it is, most assuredly, a very rough time in America right now.

This is a health and wellness issue.

I can’t bare to thing what desperate girls and women will do in total despair because the safe medical support is no longer available to them.

What next?

It’s a hard truth now. I have crossed all sorts of party lines in the course of my life. I was even a registered Republican for some years in my twenties. But that’s all gone now. The Republican Party is gone and there is some zombie party in its place.

Unless you’re down with domestic terrorism or only supporting the rights of white moneyed men, I don’t know how you could vote Republican now. I

really hope women over 50 vote AGAINST the Republican Party from here on out. That party has stolen the futures of our daughters and granddaughters. They must be voted out and their party destroyed.

I think the Democrats are a bit of hot mess but I will vote straight blue because it’s my only choice now -- for me, my rights as a woman’s and a gay person, and the rights and future of my children.
